My name is Joselyn and I am a Medical Assistant here at Grace Medical Home.
I first became part of the Grace family as a pediatric patient. At the age of 16, I was admitted to the hospital and required an immediate blood transfusion. After being hospitalized for two weeks, they finally sent me home, but I had to follow up with a physician. At the time, I did not qualify for any insurance.
The hospital helped us by sending us over to Shepherd's Hope. Shepherd’s Hope did a great job caring for me, but there was a certain medication I needed to prevent a reoccurrence and avoid another transfusion. This medication was a bit costly for my mom, since we did not have any insurance. They then spoke to us about Grace Medical Home.
Dr. Hardy became my provider. Dr. Hardy and the Grace team went above and beyond with the care they provided to me and my family. They helped me get the right medications I needed and made sure my family got all the help we could. One of the things that I remember the most and really meant a lot to us, was that at the end of every visit, Dr. Hardy and the team always included a prayer.
I always knew I wanted to be in the medical field since I was a little girl. But after being in a place like Grace, it inspired me even more. I wanted to be able to help others the same way they helped me. Not only with my medical stuff, but spiritually as well.
After a couple of years, I became a Medical Assistant and have been with my Grace family, helping others and serving our patients -- patients whom I can relate a lot with.
Grace Medical Home is more than a job for me. Grace is where I come to serve my community, listen to patients when they need someone to open up to, but most importantly where I can share the love of God with others. Grace is my home and I have no doubt that God placed me here to care for others like they cared for me and my family, but most Importantly, to share His unconditional love through Him, by providing and serving our community.
