Medical Research
Our commitment to patients is unwavering. We strive to participate in medical research as diverse as the patients we serve. Clinical trials help find new treatments to help save and improve lives. We are grateful to the volunteers who participated in these research initiatives making clinical trials possible.
Here are some of the medical research initiatives that Grace Medical Home has participated in.
In 2016, medical students and researchers published on article about the nominal facility fee we charge our patients and whether it was a barrier to care.
In 2018, researchers at the Regional Extension Center at the University of Central Florida used our clinic as an example on free clinics obtaining accreditation as a Patient-Centered Medical Home by the National Committee on Quality Assurance.
In 2019, Grace was one of two clinics in the country selected to participate in a clinical trial incorporating healthy food boxes in the patient treatment plan.
Grace also participated in a study with Duke University and DPP entitled “Integrating Spirituality into Patient Care” that engaged physicians to determine whether a spiritual history influenced the care they delivered.
The first publication was in 2013 in Becker’s Hospital Review as ways hospitals can partner with free clinics.
