With a passion for patients and a long-time interest in psychology, Anna Hall brought her counseling experience and credentials to Grace Medical Home this year.
Anna joined Grace in February as a Mental Health Counseling Registered Intern. She credits many elements to sparking her interest in the field, including participation in youth ministry, being a relationally-oriented person, and desiring to have the tools to care for those struggling with mental health.
“I really feel called to walk with people and be on a fellow journey with them,” she said.
After graduating a year ago from Reformed Theological Seminary with a master’s in counseling, Anna worked in youth ministry at First Presbyterian Church of Orlando. Anna heard about Grace through various channels and decided to become a volunteer. Her husband previously volunteered in the care coordination department, and she goes to the same church as Dr. Hardy, Founder of Grace. In her role at Grace, Anna sees patients through a combination of telehealth and in-person appointments. She provides counseling care to patients that are often at Grace for other reasons and chose to also receive counseling.
“I’ve truly enjoyed getting to know patients,” Anna said. “They’re such a joy.”
One of the reasons Anna loves volunteering at Grace is the environment. As a counselor who also works at a private practice, her first goal in counseling is to make it feel like a really safe space for the patients. She said with Grace, there’s an added level of connection and trust since the patients have already had a good experience here.
Anna says that because Grace covers so many areas of health and provides holistic care, it also fosters fantastic collaboration among clinicians.
“I feel cared for by the people on staff, and that allows patients to feel well cared for.”
