For college students, the future is full of potential and opportunities. And as gap years for students grow in popularity, Grace Medical Home has been able to help aspiring medical school students maximize time between schooling through a partnership with the University of Central Florida Burnett Honors College.

Once a patient, Kingstona Saint Lot now assists patients as a front desk volunteer at Grace Medical Home. Kingstona, 19, first arrived at Grace as a patient in 2018 while she was in high school. Originally from Haiti, she came to the United States four years ago.

Dr. Marcelo Farela travels all over the country lending his medical expertise to hospitals that need help. And when he’s not in a different city, he’s here in Orlando volunteering at Grace.

Dr. Meredith Watson-Locklear, an OB-GYN physician in Orlando Health Women’s Pavilion in Winter Park, the new healthcare experience designed exclusively for women, thinks nurturing body and soul should be a daily deal.

Alice is a physician assistant practicing cardiac electrophysiology since graduating from Nova Southeastern University in 2016. However, prior to beginning to PA school, she was a gap-year intern at Grace Medical Home. Alice had just graduated from USF and was in the process of applying to PA school.

Grace Medical Home is proud to partner with organizations that strive to help the community and make a difference in the lives of those in need. And among those cherished partners is MetroMeds Pharmacy, located in downtown Orlando.

With a passion for patients and a long-time interest in psychology, Anna Hall brought her counseling experience and credentials to Grace Medical Home this year.

In June, lap swimmers took to the lanes for a good cause - to raise money for local charities. Among those organizations was Grace Medical Home, which received $2,000.

Ryan was an intern in 2011—the second gap-year intern to bless Grace Medical Home with his service and time. Like most gap-year interns, he had just graduated with his bachelor’s degree and was applying to medical school. Since then, he graduated from medical school, finished his internal medicine residency at Elmhurst Hospital Center in Queens, and is currently in a fellowship program for nephrology at Montefiore in the Bronx

For Dr. Carmen Rodriguez, family has always been extremely important and a centerpiece of her life. And family has also been a central part of her work at Grace as a volunteer.

Between her career in dentistry spanning three decades and her energetic, passionate spirit, it’s no wonder Dr. Robin Katzman has excelled at Grace Medical Home as a volunteer working with children in dentistry. For Dr. Katzman, it’s all about the people.
